China Med 2010 Calls up for Display of Military Medical & Healthcare Products
China’s PLA medical and healthcare industry has undergone a leap-forward development, notably on the extensive applications of military products into civilian use, over the past 60 years along with the growth of the People’s Republic of China. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the new China, the organizers of China Med 2010 have decided to single out a space of 1,000 sqm for the display of military medical and healthcare products, showcasing the achievements of the Chinese PLA medical and healthcare development over the past 6 decades.
Opening up such a division has won the approval of the Health Department of General Logistics Department, Chinese People's Liberation Army. Senior officials with the General Logistics Department will visit the division during the exhibition. Experts will evaluate the products on display for future purchase choice.

Specific activities are as follows:

Two Weigao Achievements Presented with Municipal Science & Technology Awards
On August 3, the Science & Technology Conference was held at Weihai in Shandong province to recognize achievements in science and technology for 2009. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus Antibody Diagnostic Kit (Colloidal Gold), for which the Weigao Group has independent IPRs, was awarded first prize and drilling medical atraumatic needles third prize.
Developed by Weihai Weigao Biotechnology Co., Ltd., the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Antibody Diagnostic Kit (Colloidal Gold) is applied to test for HIV antibodies in serum and plasma samples, sample blood donors, and assist in diagnosing HIV infections, with the aim of effectively controlling the infection rate in China.
The drilling medical atraumatic needles are new products introduced by Weihai Foosin Medical Supplies Inc., Ltd. They use leading domestic technology and are superior to imported products in terms of both product quality and price.
Mindray Operation Tables Wins iF Design
Thanks to its compact design, sophisticated functions and superior performance, Nanjing Mindray’s HyBase 6100 electric multi-purpose operation table stood out from hundreds of other products to win the iF Design Award China 2009. This is the second time that Nanjing Mindray has won the award, following its success with the BeneView T8 patient monitor and DC-6 color doppler ultrasound system in 2006. Touted as the Oscar of its field, the iF Design Award is highly regarded in the design industry. The evaluation parameters of the iF award cover design quality, manufacturing techniques, materials' selection, innovation, functionality, practicality, and security. Brand equity and applied technologies are also considered.
The innovative design of the HyBase bed combines aesthetics with clinical functionality. Offering full control via electrical hydraulics and a modular design, this hospital bed can be flexibly adjusted for each intended use. The double-layer memory foam mattress automatically molds to a patient's contours and weight and features a stable and flexible base with two wheels for movement. The base is equipped with hydraulic bars that lock and support the bed. The innovative segmented design comprises rifts in certain areas to maximize access for doctors during an operation. The lowest vertical setting is 600 mm from the floor, allowing doctors to sit comfortably while performing an operation. The top of the operating platform can be vertically adjusted to up to 320 mm, thus eliminating blind corners in C-arm X-ray screening.
As an interdisciplinary general subject, industrial design is an important component in corporate innovation.
